1956 Topps Elvis Presley Gum Card Unopened Wax Pack:

Exceedingly Rare 5-cent type:

The majority of these super rare packs have entered the market through a single wax box find over a decade ago. Unlike the one-cent wrappers for the series, the five-cent version is not made of wax, but of a printed layered cello material with a fragile rice paper like texture. These wrappers were often used by Topps for many five-cent packs in the 50s’: Davy Crockett, Rails and Sails, Robin Hood, and Zorro, and were very delicate; often tearing when opened.

The wrappers on those packs appear to be the US Topps (aka Bubbles Inc.) version with “Printed in USA” on back; as are the cards inside from the few packs that were opened and examined at the time. There is however only 4 cards to a pack as opposed to the usual six, allowing 36 packs to fill a box otherwise intended for 24 packs. This anomaly would suggest these packs were intended for distribution in Canada rather than the US.

The pack offered here is a remainder from that find, discovered hiding in the back of a drawer.  The attractive encasement provided by GAI not only guarantees this specimen to be genuine unopened material, but further enhances the presentation for display.
